GUATEMALA WITH ALDPAR

Guatemala City
Guatemala City The largest city in Central America, Guatemala City is the hub city for the entire country as all roads in Guatemala start and end in the city. It is also a city most people miss as they drive though or around it on their way to other parts of the country. Founded after Antigua was abandoned in 1753, the city does have some attractions that are well worth seeing. Just north of the huge Central Square--the real heart of the country--is the Relief Map (Mapa En Releve) This map. created in 1905 provides visitors with a wonderful overview of the country. Created on a scale of 1:10,000, the map clearly demonstrates the incredibly rugged and challenging landscapes of the country,. Guatemala City is also home to two wonderful museums, the National Museum of Archeology and Ethnography and the Ixchel Museum on the campus of Marroquin University. Both museums handsomely reward any time spent in them and both offer wonderful insights into classical Maya civilization and contemporary Maya life in Guatemala.
